What's New for 2026? DPC! Direct Primary Care

If you haven’t heard yet—or if you’re new to our site—we’re launching a new kind of health care in Honolulu. It’s called Direct Primary Care (DPC).

With DPC, you enter into a direct relationship with either Dr. Krishanna Takemoto-Gentile or Dr. Curtis Takemoto-Gentile as your private primary care physician. That’s right—we’ve moved away from the traditional insurance-based system of medical compensation.

Why the change? Because the current insurance model has become frustrating and, frankly, unfair to both physicians and patients. Insurance companies continue to raise premiums for individuals and businesses while decreasing physician reimbursements, all while prioritizing profits over people. It’s time for something different—something that restores the sanctity of the doctor–patient relationship.

We became doctors to build real relationships with our patients—to understand them deeply and anticipate their physical, emotional, and even spiritual needs. True healing takes time and attention, not a rushed 10–15 minute visit, and certainly not care delegated to a mid-level provider.

Our care goes beyond writing prescriptions. We integrate the best of allopathic and naturopathic medicine, offering natural, evidence-based supplements when appropriate. This is not “alternative” or “quack” medicine—it’s a comprehensive approach to healing that we’ve refined over the past 25 years. Many of our patients have experienced lasting health improvements without the need for pharmaceuticals. Of course, when medications are necessary, we use them thoughtfully and appropriately.

For example, in hormone replacement therapy, we bring over 35 combined years of experience and training in evidence-based bioidentical hormone therapy. We tailor solutions to each patient, whether in the form of pills, troches, creams, patches, or pellets.
